The numbered versions, I mean. I've been out of the loop for a couple of years (Learned only recently about Studio. Doesn't seem stable enough to pirate it just yet. Shenanigans.) so I couldn't help but wonder if a Game Maker 9 is ever gonna come out?

No there will not be a Game Maker 9... they're putting all their efforts into GMstudio and in the future they're planning to work on something they currently just call "GMNext".

Aw man. I know the name change doesn't mean much, but I first started using gm when I was a wee lad and I guess I got used to it being 'Game Maker (insert number here)'. Looks like it's time to take the nostalgia specs off.
All jokes aside, is GMS any good? As in, how stable is it compared to the legacy versions?

I've made a bit of money with GMS... it has been very unstable at times... however, over the months they've really fixed things up.
I don't really work on my games in GMS per-se, I actually make the game in Game Maker 8.0 first, and then I import into studio, and iron out any bugs that appear. In the past there were many glitches and bugs... but apparently they've been fixing a lot of problems because with my current version of GMS there are usually no bugs at all when I import.
So, yeah... YoyoGames has done pretty well I'd say.

I didn't realize you could import gm8 games (which I kindof feel stupid about right now) In that case, I might give it a whirl sometime. Sounds like a good deal. How do things work when porting games to other platforms though? Also, you made money with it? I wanna know more about this. I know you can put the games on the appstore and googleplay but the concept of that scares me for some reason.

I'm not very experienced with publishing to appstores... I did manage to export one game for android and publish to Google Play... but getting the development tools for it to work with GMS was a little bit tricky(I plan to try again soon).
I've made several simple mobile HTML5 games while working with TrueValhalla, that's how I was able to make some cash... it's not the easiest thing to do, though... since it involves an initial investment in his mobility engine as well as buying GMS and the time and energy that goes into first making a quality game. There are a lot of limitations with mobile games because they can't handle a lot of objects without experiencing extremely low framerate.
